Biography

Kelly has worked in financial services for over 32 years. Prior to opening Cornerstone Investment Strategies in 2010 he was a growth leader at Edward Jones and a staff manager at Prudential Insurance company.

Kelly is a lifelong resident of Shreveport. He and his wife, Judy, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Their children are Chris Young, a pastor in South Bossier, and Jennifer McDowell, a math teacher at Calvary Baptist Academy. They have six grandchildren.

Kelly and Judy have been members of Calvary Baptist Church for more than 55 years. They continue to serve at Calvary in various roles. Their children and grandchildren have all attended Calvary Baptist Academy.

In addition to serving his clients, Kelly has mentored many advisors along the way. “We are all about helping people. Whether it is a client, an advisor, a friend, or a stranger, we will help if we can.”

Biography

Ryan Edwards grew up in Bossier City, LA. The son of a local sports medicine doctor, Ryan wanted to pursue a passion for coaching. He followed this passion through his undergraduate studies at LSU and his graduate program at Northwestern State University, graduating from both with 4.0 grade point averages while working with the basketball teams at University Laboratory School and Northwestern State. The coaching profession brought him to Shreveport in 2006 to serve as the assistant men’s basketball coach at LSU Shreveport. In 2010, after several in-depth discussions with Kelly Young, who was in the process of starting Cornerstone Investment Strategies, Ryan decided to undertake a new challenge.

Transitioning from a career in coaching, Ryan Edwards began at Cornerstone in September of 2010. Initially serving as an assistant to Kelly, Ryan quickly completed the requirements to become an investment executive. Since then, he has steadily grown his business and particularly enjoys working with young professionals who have a desire to plan for their future. He holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM(CFP®) designation, a distinguished designation in the financial services industry awarded to financial advisors who have met strict standards for experience, knowledge, and ethical conduct.

Ryan is married to the former Alice Yunker, and they have two children: Grant and Juliana.

Biography

Hunter grew up in Shreveport, La. After high school, he played baseball at Centenary College and later attended Louisiana State University. He received a Bachelor of Science in computer Engineering from LSU and moved to Houston, TX to pursue a career in design engineering. Hunter’s interest in financial advising led him to make a career move and after extensive testing and training, he followed his heart into finance. Hunter has helped clients with their financial needs for over 15 years and has worked with Kelly Young at Edward Jones and Cornerstone Investment Strategies.

Hunter holds an Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS) designation from the College for Financial Planning. He continues to grow his business, help clients to pursue their financial goals, and guide them through retirement.

Hunter is married to Mary Ellen, and they have three children: Jacob, Cade, and Grace. Their children have all attended Calvary Baptist Academy.

Biography

Brad grew up in the suburbs of Buffalo, New York. As a child, he learned the value of investing while he delivered papers and ran his mall landscaping business. He invested in his own business by purchasing lawnmowers and other equipment. That passion for investing and helping people continues today.

Brad moved to the Shreveport/Bossier City area in 2004 with his bride, Heather, for his job at General Motors. Brad and Heather have been happily married since 2003 and have been blessed with 3 children, Emilie, Aiden, and Jeffrey. Heather is the Director of the Bossier Parish Library system.

Brad has a Bachelor of Science in Financial Analysis with a minor in Economics from Louisiana State University at Shreveport. He joins Cornerstone Investment Strategies after working at Edward Jones.

Biography

Bonnie Arbuckle grew up in Bossier City, LA.  She attended college in Monroe, Louisiana and joined the Louisiana Army National Guard during her first year of college.  After training to be a Combat Medical Specialist, she returned to the Shreveport-Bossier area and briefly worked on a transport ambulance before transitioning to dispatch of Life Air 1.  While pursuing a marketing degree with an aggressive class schedule, she worked full time and continued her commitment in the military.  She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing from LSUS.  After graduation, Bonnie started her career in medical equipment and soon became a regional manager for multiple states.  Her passion was in educating hospital staff and mentoring her team.  She spent 21 years in the medical equipment field in a fast-paced environment before taking on a new challenge in financial services.

Bonnie joined the financial services industry in 2016.  Continuing her passion for education and mentoring she began to focus on women who had a desire to learn about their finances and the methods to improve them.  Bonnie has steadily grown her business with a strong desire to help women and their families improve their lives through financial intelligence.

Service members and veterans are also an area where Bonnie enjoys investing her time. Her experience also includes partnering with private companies and government agencies to improve their retirement plans as well as to educate and assist their employees to prepare for retirement. 

Bonnie has been married for 31 years to Robert Arbuckle III and they are members of Willow Point Baptist Church.  They have twins who are both married and one grandchild.  
Ethan is a college professor and lives near Houston with his wife Abbi and their son, Oliver.  Megan teaches at Caddo Magnet High School and lives with her husband, Brandon, in Shreveport.

Biography

Matt Ponder was born and raised in Shreveport. He graduated from Southwood HS (1993) and then LA Tech with a BS in Biology Education (1997) and an MS in Secondary School Administration (1998). After a nearly decade-long career in secondary education, Matt transitioned in 2006 from teaching science and coaching basketball to teaching his clients the subjects of finance and investments. Matt’s attraction to investments and capital markets is what propelled the pivot that resulted in his 17-year career as an investment advisor with Primerica before joining the team at Cornerstone.
 
Matt holds his Series 6, Series 63, Series 26, and Series 65 registrations through LPL Financial as well as his life and health insurance licenses. Matt received training from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago to prepare for his professional designation as a CERTIFIED INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT ANALYIST (CIMA®️). This designation focuses on fields such as discretionary investment management, investment policy and plan design, portfolio construction, and, behavioral finance.
 
Matt’s wife of over 25 years, Leslie, is originally from San Diego, CA. They have 3 sons.  Benjamin (20) who attends LA Tech and plays basketball for the Bulldogs,  Zachary (18) who attends Calvary Baptist Academy, and Sam (16) who also attends Calvary Baptist Academy. The Ponders are faithful members at Norris Ferry Community Church in Shreveport.

Tony Bailey grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana.  He has always loved serving people.  He started by serving in the Marine Corp after high school.  After serving his country, he went into the food industry serving others through his love for food.  As his family grew, he learned the importance of financial management and planning for the future.  He transitioned to serving others through financial education.
